Position: Wintel Engineer
Job Description:
· Wintel Engineer Scope: Singapore Data Centre Summary: Work within a team environment to ensure daily availability of WINTEL servers with significant business or IT impact, handling all LINUX OS installations, incidents, data analysis, security, performance, and standards compliance issues.
· The technical environment includes web-based applications operating in AIX, LINUX, UNIX and Windows environments
· Responsibilities: Administer and maintain WINTEL server and OS for production, Internet and intranet services
· Monitor and report storage capacity on Storage Area Networks (SAN)
· Collaborate with engineering in developing new applications and integrating new technologies
· Troubleshooting performance issues, repairing system software and troubleshooting OS configuration and hardware failures
· Supports new projects, OS installations, upgrades, patches and creation of documentation
· Perform, monitor and report on backup/ restore processes
· Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting
· Apply Client’s internal security policies and document deviations
· Plan, test and document WINTEL Disaster Recovery processes
· Be involved in the installation, monitoring and support of WINTEL based servers, firewalls, Cisco networks, perimeter security technologies, Internet technologies and remote office WAN/ LAN connectivity
· Complete familiarity with working knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, WINS, DHCP and SSL
Skills Required:
· Four plus years experience with WINTEL servers and Microsoft 2000/ 2003, MS SQL servers a plus
· Bachelors Degree in Computer Science
· Good oral and written communication skills across multiple markets
· Organisation skills are required to ensure compliance with corporate standards
· Strong research initiative, self-starter at locating relevant documentation, support and process assistance
· A continuous Improvement mindset with an ability to refine processes to make them more efficient and effective, making more effective use of resources
· An ability to think ‘outside of the box’ with a long term view, when recommending solutions
· Familiarity with open source tools for diagnostics and performance
· Knowledge should extend through operating System Support, workstation, laptop, server builds, LAN Administration and LAN Server Center operations
· Project Management kills are required to support technology changes/ improvements driven by the business
